Summerland Ornamental Gardens

The Summerland Ornamental Gardens is a popular place for weddings and it’s easy to see why. Flowers of every colour under the rainbow are the perfect backdrop for photography and provide inspiring and exciting “eye candy” for guests.

The Ornamental Gardens are really equipped to accommodate large or small groups. The elevated slate staircase makes a perfect stage for wedding ceremonies and photography while in the background, giant ponderosa pine trees provide a sense of strength and natural beauty .

I have been lucky enough to be the photographer for numerous gorgeous weddings here. With the bride and groom “elevated” on the stairs, I can create stunning wedding photographs during the ceremony, where big smiles and emotion inevitably shine through!

Photographic possibilities are endless in the park. I often work with shades and tones of exotic flowers or indigenous plants like sagebrush and rabbitbrush, which blooms a brilliant yellow in late summer and early fall. There are also some stunning vistas of the Trout Creek canyon. It is so deep, you’ll get dizzy if you look down for a long time! But don’t worry, there’s a fence to keep you from succumbing to vertigo!

You can extend the photography session at nearby Sun-Oka Park for some fun in the sun along the beach. As I have lived and worked in the area for several years, I have a repertoire of “secret photography locations” to take you to as well! It all depends on your style and what you are looking for from your wedding photographer.

Summerland Ornamental Gardens is a great choice for an Okanagan outdoor wedding ceremony followed by a reception in either Summerland, Penticton or Peachland. For Okanagan destination weddings, the Gardens are only a half hour drive from the Coquihalla connector, your most direct route to Vancouver and, 45 minutes from Kelowna airport.
