Quail’s Gate Estate Winery

I love the idea of having a private wedding reception venue built right into a hillside winery – one of Kelowna’s finest. The indoor space is cozy with sweeping views of Okanagan Lake and the twinkling lights of Kelowna off in the distance. Photography sessions here often take place with wine glass in hand – one of the joy of being the photographer!

I love to take couples or family groups into the vineyard – it creates an authentic experience, rewarding photographs and usually a lot of light hearted laughter. From the balcony, I can get beautiful aerial views of Okanagan Lake and the hills beyond and at the same time, direct my “subjects” in subtle ways to make the photographs stand out.

“I need a bit more movement – pick up your feet!” I’ve been known to say.

Sometimes it’s the little things like capturing people mid-stride rather than standing still that make photographs come to life. The vineyard is a perfect place for this – besides, you can’t go too far astray, everything is in rows!

Whether you’re wedding is in the Spring when the vines are beginning to come to life, or in the Fall during Winefest when the grapes are dripping off the vines, Quail’s Gate Estate Winery has always fulfilled the creative and romantic visions of the wedding couples I photogaphed here.

For those who like to mix it up during the day, it is easy here to combine a wedding ceremony at Gellatly Nut Farm and a reception at Quail’s Gate winery or The Cove Lakeside Resort. The latter offers great rooms for out of town guests.
